This training is designed to provide participants with a better understanding of the value added by incorporating pavement preservation strategies into maintaining a roadway network. Gaining this better understating will be accomplished by providing participants the opportunity to become familiar with the general concept of pavement preservation and the valuable role it plays in maintaining a roadway network. Participants will gain more detailed knowledge necessary to properly incorporate the concept of pavement preservation into maintaining an interactive workshop. The strategically placed workshops provide hands-on learning opportunities by simulating real-world situations that require participants to systematically apply knowledge gained from this training to evaluate pavement preservation applicability, identify feasible strategies and determine appropriate treatments. Examples of good practices for determining candidate projects, selecting specific strategies and applying appropriate treatments provided throughout this training will support decision-making necessary to successfully complete the workshops.

Speaker Bio

Mr. Jason Dietz

Mr. Dietz has worked for the FHWA for 27 years in various field-engineering positions throughout the US.  He has been working with the Pavement and Materials Technical Services Team at the FHWA Resource Center for eight years where he provides technical assistance and transfer of information.  Prior to joining FHWA he worked for five years for a consultant on various construction projects. He is actively involved in developing, improving, and implementing technologies for pavement and materials.  He served as co-lead for the Every Day Counts (EDC-4) Pavement Preservation When, Where and How advancement efforts, the FHWA Resource Center project manager for national Tack Coat Workshops in cooperation with the Asphalt Institute, and the lead technical panel member for developing the new NHI course 131139 on Constructing and Inspecting Asphalt Paving Projects.

 

Chuck Ingram

Mr. Ingram has been in the Pavement Preservation industry for over 47 years.  He began work for Slurry Pavers, Inc. in March 1977, which evolved into a multi-faceted company offering products and services related to virtually all disciplines of Pavement Preservation.  For the past 33 years I have been in charge of Business Development for the company in the Mid-Atlantic region.

He has been actively involved with the International Slurry Surfacing Assn. (ISSA) for over 25 years. During that time, he served on many Committees, chaired several of them, including the ISSA Slurry Systems Workshop Committee that annually produces what is considered the most valuable training opportunity in the Pavement Preservation Industry.  He was on the team that wrote the current Design & Inspection Manual for Slurry Surfacing Systems and currently an SME for the ISSA/FHWA Sponsored Web Based Training Modules. During my tenure at ISSA he was on the Board of Directors for several years and served as President for two years. For the past several years he have been an instructor for the Slurry Systems Certification programs for VDOT & SCDOT, and has taken part in Every Day Counts (EDC) training w/FHWA, and led training for the Asphalt Institute, World of Asphalt and the National Center for Pavement Preservation (NCPP).  He has been on the NCPP Advisory Board as well as the FHWA Pavement Preservation Technical Feedback Group.  He is also active with APWA, Va. Asphalt Assn., Va. Transportation Construction Alliance and County Engineers Assn. of MD.

 

Schedule

This workshop will begin at 8:30 am. Please arrive around between 8 & 8:15 am for introduction for the workshop will start at 8:15 am, Lunch will be provided, and we will conclude around 4:45pm.

Course Fee

The registration fee for the workshop is $195.00 per person. All South Carolina city, county, or state employees receive a LTAP scholarship registration fee of $95.00. The fee includes course materials, break refreshments, and lunch.

This course has a maximum of 40 students, and will be capped at this number. Advanced registration is encouraged so that an accurate estimate of the number of workshop participants can be obtained.  Workshops with low advanced registration will be subject to cancellation.

Who Should Attend

This training is ideal for roadway construction and maintenance teams, specifically the highway workers and inspectors involved in the placement of pavement preservation treatments. Design engineers will also benefit from the associated training.

Payment Policy

UPDATED 2/15/23 – The Transportation Technology Transfer Service now accepts Electronic Check (ACH) payments in addition to credit card payments. While credit card payments are still the preferred payment method, you now have the Electronic Check (ACH) option. Your payment must be received within 5 business days of your registration. If your registration payment is not received by then, you will not be guaranteed registration for the conference.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your registration more than 72 hours before a class, your registration fee will be refunded, less a $35 processing fee. If you do not cancel before the 72 hour deadline your registration fee will not be refunded. You may send a substitute in your place, provided that you inform us of the substitute’s name no later than 24 hours before the training.  No-shows will not have their registration fee refunded.
